New Chopin recording
There isn’t much music for two pianos by Chopin. But Naxos asked us to record his Rondo in C Major Op. 73 in February 2010 and it has now been released. For more info, click here. To hear it on Spotify, click here.
Olivier Messiaen: Hebrides Ensemble
In March 2007, along with other members of the Hebrides Ensemble, I braved the cold of St Mary’s Church in Haddington and – when the gales stopped blowing – recorded a disc of the complete chamber works of Messiaen, which we released around his 100th birthday the following year. But whatever we lacked by way of creature comforts, we more than made up for in acoustic, and I love the combination of warmth and clarity on this recording. All thanks to the superb Phil Hobbs! And it was a huge privilege to have the opportunity to make the first ever recording of Messiaen’s newly-discovered Fantasie for violin and piano with Alexander Janiczek. Igor Stravinsky - Piano Duo
The most recent piano duo CD features three Stravinsky ballets: Rite of Spring and Petrouchka in Stravinsky’s arrangements, and my own version of the final three movements of Firebird. Transcribing Firebird was a big project, but very rewarding, and has generated much interest from reviewers, publications and promoters, who often request it in our concert programmes. I would like to do more in the future… watch this space! See our recordings page for more details - click here.
La Valse - for Piano Duet
The first piano duo CD of French music by Ravel, Debussy and Bizet was released in 2001 to critical acclaim. See our recordings page for more details - click here.
